Playdemic and Rebellion on board for new publishing effort; Konami signs up too
Two UK studios are the latest to sign up for Zynga's only days-old games platform.
Playdemic and Rebellion will publisher their games across Zynga's network. Konami Digital Entertainment, which has its digital games efforts based in the US, is also on board.
For long-running outfit Rebellion, signing with Zynga helps the firm as it builds towards launching an unannounced social game.
As announced last week, the Zynga network and Zynga.com essentially turns the social gaming giant into a publisher, bolting third-party games into the company's network of games already played by quarter of a billion people across Facebook and mobile.
Zynga says that these partnerships offers developers "social engagement, analytics that measure and drive social, and back end technology that ensures scalability and availability".
"We’re honored to welcome these new Zynga Platform partners. All three represent some of the best game development talent in the industry,” said Rob Dyer, head of platform partners at Zynga - he was the former senior vice president of Publisher Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment, just one of the many high level execs Zynga has sucked up during its bold expansion.
“Zynga Platform is about bringing great games to a captive audience that loves to play, and we’re dedicated to creating the best destination for social games for players and developers alike.”
The new partners join existing partners Mob Science, Row Sham Bow and Sava Transmedia.
“Our partnership with Zynga is not only a fantastic opportunity to grow the audience of Gourmet Ranch and Crossword Buddies, but also to work hand-in-hand with social gaming experts at the undisputed market leader,” said Paul Gouge, founder and CEO of Playdemic.
“We have incredible talent at Playdemic and have already been successful on Facebook, but we know that working with Zynga will rapidly accelerate our growth and bring our games to more players.”
Jason Kingsley, CEO and creative director of Rebellion, also offered: “Our goal is to bring Rebellion games to a broader audience while learning from Zynga’s mastery of the social gaming space. Through the Zynga Platform, we’ll release our first-ever social game. We can’t wait to show players what we’ve been working on.”
