Sony, Playdom, Crytek and Playfish to address audiences at industry event

The organisers of GDC Europe have today confirmed a number of new speakers for the event.

Representatives from Sony, Playdom, Crytek and Playfish are to address attendees at the Cologne event in August, which is also set to introduce a new 'Games & Movies/TV' track.

Seb Canniff of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is set to take to the stage for a talk entitled 'Budgets - The Bermudan Part of the Production Triangle', which is conceived to offer practical advice on budget planning for development studios. Cannif's session is to run as part of GDC Europe's production track.

Playdom's Steve Meretzky and Dave Rohrl are also set to speak, tackling 'The Year in Social Games', where they will offer an overview of the highlight's of the new boom in connected games that play on community attributes. both are expected to make what the organisers have described as 'bold predictions'.

another newly annouced speaker is Bernd Diemer from Crytek, who is readying a session named 'Imaginary Places, Strange Maps, and How Pop Culture Resonates Past Media Borders' that will look at how studios can inspiration sources in other media can be used to 'define a foundation for resonating game content and context'.

Other confirmed speakers include Playfish's Jeff Valadares and Don Daglow of Don Daglow Interactive Entertainment.

The new Games & Movies/TV track is set to take place on the opening day of GDC Europe and hopes to provide developers with a clear guide to adapting cinematic and televised IP into successful games.

GDC Europe takes place from August 16th to 18th this year at Cologne's Congress Centre East, and promises to bring together developers and industry figures from across the continent and globe.
