Attendees must register to event newsletter by March 17th to reserve spaces

Gamescom 2012 to begin ticket pre-sales next month

Gamescom is to open up pre-sales for tickets to registered attendees, it has announced.

Those wanting to attend the European games convention will be able to reserve tickets starting from April if they register to the Gamescom newsletter by March 17th.

Official ticket sales will begin in May, and those looking to attend on the Saturday must purchase their tickets in advance, as they will not be available on-site to avoid the mass crowds at last year’s event.

“The exclusive advance sales option will assist in better predicting visitor numbers and with other measures will help us optimise the admission situation especially on Saturday", said Gamescom project manager Tim Endres.

Last year’s convention saw 275,000 attendees, with organisers expanding available exhibition space to 140,000 square metres to accommodate a similar number this year.

“Gamescom 2012 will again be the mega-highlight for interactive entertainment,” said Endres.

“The world’s largest interactive playground, exciting premieres and another fantastic event experience are guaranteed. People wishing to experience it live should plan their travel and stay early on and avoid busy times."

The event will take place from August 15th to 19th at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.
