Southeast Asia is â??the world's fastest growing online games marketâ?, says LMI Asia

Games Convention Asia 2009 partners with online games group

Organisers of the GCA Games Convention Asia 2009 have struck a deal with Infocomm Asia Holdings (IAH), a leading Southeast Asian operator and distributor of online games.

In a written company statement, GCA ’09 organisers LMI Asia touch on the growing prominence of the Asian gaming community.

Various analysts have predicted an annual growth of over 10 percent in the digital games sector in the Asia Pacific region, rising from a confirmed $11.7 billion market in 2006 to a projected $18.8 billion market in 2011.

The partnership between LMI Asia – another name for the new sales office of German event organisers Leipziger Messe International – and IAH will see the final rounds in Asia’s largest ‘e-gaming’ tournament take place at GCA ’09 this September.
GCA ’09 will take place in Singapore, a nation with a game sector currently valued at $285 million.

IAH Games’ CEO Roland Ong said that “GCA is the perfect launch pad for our plans to widen our portfolio beyond distribution into game development. Leveraging the GCA connection, we would be able to increase IAH Games’ visibility and tap into new business opportunities.”

LMI Asia Managing director Jorg Zeissig said Southeast Asia is “the world’s fastest growing online games market”.
