Financial results show 17 per cent growth from previous year

Gameloft sales during the third quarter of 2011 ended at $56 million, the company has announced.

The figure is up 17 per cent from the previous year, with Europe and North America representing 57 per cent of sales.

Smartphone and tablet game sales meanwhile grew by 60 per cent year-on-year, accounting for 34 per cent of the developer's overall sales.

The latest financial report means that consolidated sales for the first nine months of 2011 now stands at $162 million, up by 16 per cent year-on-year.

“The dynamism of the smartphone and tablet market, driven by the success of Apple and Android, should continue sustaining Gameloft's growth in the upcoming quarters,” the company said.

“Additionally, the release of new gaming platforms, such as smart TVs and next-generation set-top boxes, should provide the company with strong growth opportunities in the coming years.”

Multi-platform developer Gameloft has made games such as TinTin the game, the mobile version of Driver San Francisco and the recently released iOS game Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation.
