Age of Conan developer offing its Norwegian workforce the chance to relocate

Funcom cuts staff and turns to Canada, report claims

Reports have emerged that Norwegian developer Funcom will slash its workforce by 20 per cent, as the Age of Conan developer plans to migrate its business to tax-friendly regions in Canada.

The developer has also postponed the release of its next project, The Secret World, by several months.

Funcom employs around 300 staff worldwide, most of which resides in Norway.

Today an E24 report is claiming that the company is offering 220 of its employees the chance to relocate to Quebec in Canada.

The consequence for developers not taking up the offer is unclear, though the E24 report adds that it wants to hire as many as 150 additional staff in Canada over the next 18 months.

Develop has contacted the parties involved for comment.
