Elite creator Frontier Developments’ transition into publishing its own games appears to have been a success.
For the six months ending November 2015, the studio’s revenue rose by 50 per cent versus the first half of the year, its latest financials reveal.
Half-year revenue totalled £10.9 million, with the firm holding net cash of £8.6 million.
This was helped by continued healthy sales of its space-faring sim Elite Dangerous, which has now sold more than 1.4 million paid copies – 200,000 of which were sold during December.
An expansion, Elite Dangerous: Horizons, entered Steam Early Access in mid-December.
Last year, Frontier made a move into self-publishing, beginning with the Xbox One release of Elite Dangerous in December.
A second self-published game, Planet Coaster, is currently in development.
