Mobile development session announced for day two of London conference

Free Palm OS workshop at MAW 2010

A free Palm webOS workshop will take place at this year’s Mobile App World 2010 conference, taking place October 19-20 in London.

The workshop will be held on day two of the event, and will be presented by HP Palm developer relations engineer Ben Combee with the intention of addressing the difficulties of building apps amid device fragmentation.

“Through speaking with app developers, content providers and publishers, their main issues seem to be getting seen on as many devices across the most platforms as quickly and efficiently as possible,” Mobile App World director Shaun Pinney said.

“Having a true app development solution, like the Palm webOS, that tackles device fragmentation should resolve this, allowing more time to be focused on app content, increasing it’s ‘stickyness’ with users and hopefully improving ROI.”

Combee was keen to impress his belief in taking on the difficulties presented by device fragmentation.

“Solving the significant device fragmentation that we struggle with today is a challenge, and developers that can create apps for the most platforms as efficiently as possible will have a distinct competitive advantage,” he said.

“The HP Palm workshop at Mobile App World will walk developers through the step-by-step process of developing apps for different platforms without having to build a new app from scratch each time.”
