More to be revealed on possible Metal Gear sequel at GDC

Fox Engine confirmed for Phantom Pain

Evidence that the elusive Phantom Pain game is a new Metal Gear Solid title is racking up with Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine all but confirmed as its foundation.

In a slapstick interview with Spike TV, the supposed CEO of Moby Dick Studio’s Joakim Mogren – who’s face was covered in bandaged – showed off some concept stills of the game on his tablet.

The Fox Engine logo can clearly be seen in the bottom left of the video – a fact which interviewer Jeff Keighley points out to Mogren, who jumps in surprise before the video ends.

The Fox Engine has been developed by Metal Gear Solid studio Kojima Productions.

Kojima is due to show more of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes at his GDC panel, which he recently confirmed he would be extending.

As well as Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, the in-house engine is also being used in Konami’s next generation Pro Evolution Soccer.

Kojima’s 90-minute GDC session, titled ‘Photorealism through the eyes of a Fox’ will take place on Wednesday, March 27th at 11am PT / 6pm GMT.
