Independent developer enters in to self-publishing with new offices

Exient opens new studio in Leamington Spa

UK developer Exient has opened a new studio in Leamington Spa.

As well as expanding its UK operations from its Oxford headquarters, the developer has also opened a new office in the Czech Republic in Brno.

The work-for-hire studio said it plans to operate a new self-publishing initiative in an effort to capitalise on the experience it has gained developing titles for other companies.

It added the company would develop established and new IP across platforms, and would look to take advantage of the casual and free-to-play markets.

"Exient is well aligned with the new era of gaming and the transition into its free-to-play and ‘games as a hobby’ initiatives as we continue to establish our world class client list and develop our new IPs,” said Exient CEO Dave Hawkins.

Exient group studio director Graeme Monk added: "Both Leamington and Brno Studios are founded on substantial industry experience and enhances the group’s extensive experience and ambitions and perfectly aligns with our self publishing plans.”

Exient has previously worked a number of games for the likes of Activision and EA, including the Angry Birds Trilogy for Nintendo 3DS.
