Christopher Schmitz leaves Parisian studio behind Heavy Rain after a year and a half to take on role of executive producer

Ex-Quantic Dream director of production joins IO Interactive

Former Quantic Dream and Ubisoft Blue Byte dev Christopher Schmitz has moved to Hitman creator IO Interactive.

Schmitz joined Quantic Dream, the Parisian outlet behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, as director of production in January 2015 after seven years at Ubisoft Blue Byte, ultimately as director of product development.

He takes up the position of executive producer at IO, as the studio continues to roll out episodes for its segmented latest take on the Hitman franchise.

"I think it’s safe to say the industry has been watching closely what IO has been doing with the latest Hitman game,” said Schmitz.

“I’m excited to be a part of this team and it’s a new chapter for me, plus I’m looking forward to getting to know Copenhagen a lot better.”

“We are always looking to strengthen the talent we have at the studio and so we are delighted to get Christopher on board,” added studio head Hannes Seifert.

“His experience, energy and perspective on game development is a perfect fit for us, he has so much to offer our team, our studio and our games.”
