Outbreak Studios to focus on digital and online games [Update]
The splinter group, known as Outbreak Studios, was founded by lead programmer Peter Bjorklund, whose last project at GRIN was the poorly-received Terminator Salvation.
"Outbreak Studios believes in having a small number of core employees that are extremely dedicated, focused and deliver high quality," said the studio on its official website.
"Most of our associates have worked in the game industry for more than ten years. All of them have worked together for several years."
The group has pledged to develop digital titles for a variety of platforms including XBLA, PSN, iPhone, Games for Windows Live and PSPgo.
According to Outbreak’s confirmed Twitter account, the studio is now hard at work on its debut title.
The group said it also aims to “deliver online components for AAA titles, both existing or upcoming."
Outbreak is formed of developers who were given their notice during GRIN’s initial round of layoffs back in May, which is thought to have seen as many as 160 employees let go.
News of a further round of layoffs at Grin surfaced this week, with mounting speculation suggesting the firm could be on the verge of closure.
