The Outsiders developing RPG for PC

Ex-DICE devs David Goldfarb and Ben Cousins open new studio

Former DICE developers David Goldfarb and Ben Cousins have opened a new studio in Sweden called The Outsiders.

Goldfarb will take up the position of chief creative officer while Cousins has been named as CEO.

The developer is currently working on a new RPG for PC. It has yet been confirmed whether this will be a premium or free-to-play title.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Goldfarb said he had been working on the concept of the game for some time, and now felt he was in a position to move forward with the project.

"It felt like I had gotten to a place where I felt good about it, but then I realised that I couldn’t do it alone,” he said.

“So I thought, maybe I should go find somebody, and that’s when I thought of Ben. He’s actually the reason I originally joined DICE, who told me back in the day, ‘Y’know, why don’t you come out here?’ But he has a ton of experience starting things, doing them in a new way."

Prior to founding The Outsiders, Goldfarb had worked as game director at on Payday 2 for Overkill and as an independent consultant. As well as working at DICE, Cousins has previously held the position of GM at DeNA studio Scattered Entertainment and also serves as an independent consultant for free-to-play developers.
