Epic announce the ‘Epic MegaJam’ for UE4

Unreal Engine developers Epic Games has announced its yearly MegaJam. The jam, which returns for the third year running with sponsors such as Intel, Allegorithmic and Falcon Northwest all providing prizes for finalists.

The jam will start on November 2nd at 2pm Eastern Time. Teams of up to five people can compete by developing a game using Unreal Engine on the to be announced theme by November 9th at 3pm Eastern Time. The only rules are that the games must have custom gameplay that goes beyond what the standard templates in UE4 offer, all assets must have no default materials, and all projects must be exported to either Android, Windows or MacOS.

Along with the sponsor prizes, all finalists will recieve Unreal Engine ‘swag packs’. The theme, and the opening of the submission process, will be announced as part of Epic’s regular livestream on Twitch, YouTube and Facbeook. Entry rules and processes have changed since last year, so visit the Unreal Forum to read up on what’s different this time around.

The previous winners of the MegaJam are all listed on a large forum post, so if you’re looking for the kind of level the jam provides, that’s a good place to start. You’ll also find all of the previous seasonal jams listed in the post too.
