UK mobile free-to-play studio Eight Pixels Square has closed a new funding round.
As reported by Pocket Gamer, the company’s founding team and angel investor Chris Lee provided funding for the studio. Global Leisure Partners has also taken an equity stake in the Derby-based outfit.
Lee has a long history in the game industry, co-founding studios like Media Molecule, FreeStyle and more recently Delinquent Interactive and Playhubs. He also acts as an advisor for Hello Games, Space Ape, Hutch and MAG Interactive.
Total funding in Eight Pixels Square has now reached £2m.
"We are thrilled to close this investment round, which will help enable us to create and scale top grossing F2P titles in 2016 and beyond," said studio director Hugh Binns.
Eight Pixels Square was founded in January 2013, and currently houses 40 employees. It has released two games on mobile to date: All Guns Blazing and Cartel Kings.
