Start-up aims to use investment to expand into international markets and create new IP
Egg Baby developer Nix Hydra has raised $5 million in funding to finance the development of new games.
The start-up, founded by Naomi Ladizinsky and Lina Chen, is focused on creating titles targeted at young women.
Its first title was Egg Baby, which tasks players with looking after an egg until it hatches. To date the mobile game has been downloaded more than nine million times.
The $5m in Series A funding from VC firm Foundry Group will be used to help further develop the Egg Baby franchise, create new IP and expand into international markets.
“Foundry is very much aligned with us in our vision for this company and we couldn’t be more excited to have their support as we work towards making it a reality,” said Nix Hyrda CEO Lina Chen.
“We’re hiring in a variety of fields, and encourage any talented people who are interested in making games for a predominantly female fan base to join our spirited, diverse team.”
