Edinburgh Interactive kicks off in just a matter of days - and the event promises to lift the lid on what's next for the games industry.

Taking place from midday Wednesday, August 25th to Thursday, August 26th, the event features key speakers from SCEE (Ray Maguire), Square Enix (Ian Livingstone), and the BBC (Vision boss Simon Nelson, who commissioned the Doctor Who games).

Meanwhile key execs from innovative firms on the cusp of where games tip into other media will be present to talk about new business models and much more - these include Mind Candy, Xbox Live, Music Myne and more.

A number of analysts and consultants will also present data and market insight.

Edinburgh's customary VIP drinks take place on the Wednesday evening, with a special 'TV meets games' networking event the following night as part of a tie-up with the Media Guardian's Interactive Entertainment Festival, which runs concurrently.

The event takes place at the Edinburgh Filmhouse on Lothian Road, with the nearby Festival Square hosting stands from Nintendo and Sony showcasing their newest titles.

A 20 per cent discount is available for students, Scottish developers, plus ELSPA and Tiga members - simply use the code 'eif20' when registering at the official site.
