Xbox Game Preview to offer free trials to players before they make a purchase

E3 2015: Xbox One gets Early Access

Xbox One is getting its own version of Early Access, it has been announced.

ID@Xbox’s Chris Charla said that the pilot programme, Xbox Game Preview, will let developers sell in-development games on its marketplace.

Unlike on Steam’s Early Access however, players will be able to trial games in development for free before they make a purchase. This could be seen as an attempt to reduce the controversy by games deemed too buggy for some players.

The Xbox Game Preview service will be launched later today. The first games available will be Elite: Dangerous and The Long Dark.

Other titles to hit the service will include Sheltered and DayZ.
