The games division of the Walt Disney Company made an improvement on its income in its most recent quarter, as shown in the company’s latest earnings report.
Disney Interactive Studios generated $291 million in its first fiscal quarter, up four per cent from the previous year, which ended on December 29, 2012.
Profits for the division climbed to a net income of $9m during the period, which was an improvement from a net loss of $28m in fiscal Q1 2012.
Disney’s games division attributed the higher profits to growth in the company’s licensed Japanese mobile titles and lower user acquisition costs in its social business.
Titles released by Disney included Epic Mickey 2, Toy Story Mania and Wreck-It Ralph.
Last month, it closed lead Epic Mickey developer, Junction Point, leaving the division with just two console-focused studios, Avalanche Software and Wideload Games.
