Latest issue featuring exclusive Codemasters focus now with subscribers and available for free download

The December 07/January 08 issue of Develop, number 79, has been mailed out to subscribers and is now available for download as a free PDF (registration required) here.

Our cover story this month is an exclusive look at Codemasters' plans for expansion, examining how the firm is using its recently rebranded EGO engine and a new studio in Guildford worling on a new IP, to help grow the company - and set a mandate for the whole industry.

Taking cues from Codemasters' versatile EGO platform, we also feature a number of articles looking at the rise of shared technology, looking at new French effort Play All, Eidos' plans for sharing its technology across all its studios, plus an in-depth examination into how mutliformat development for the high-powered current-gen consoles has changed the way studios make games.

This issue also sees the return of the Develop roundtable - for the first we get three key services firms together to discuss studio attitudes towards outsourcing over a pint or two.

Our technology-focused Build section features news on all the latest tech releases and also a guide to source and process tools software. The issue also boasts a special article looking at the character animation category looking at the key tools from Autodesk, Havok, Softimage and NaturalMotion.

And, as ever, the Develop Directory features the latest jobs from studios around the world, key service providers, cutting-edge tool firms, and the latest games education news and courses.
