Closely watched list of the world's best games studios is published next month

Who are the world's best games studios?

You'll get to find out next month when our globally recognised list of the most successful developers, the Develop 100, returns next month.

And this time out listing comes courtesy of none other than Metacritic.

The must-read review score tracking site has compiled a hot list of the world's best studios which Develop will publish in June.

The Develop 100 in association with Metacritic will be published with the June edition of Develop, plus the June 3rd issue of MCV, and will also be available as a digital edition online.

This seventh edition of the widely-read industry book opts for global review score data from calendar year 2010, providing a thorough and accurate rundown of which studios create the best games, be they retail or digital releases, or PC, console or mobile games.

Metacritic's vast records - which track every important review for every game released - have been used to formulate the list, with further editorial analysis provided by the Develop team and its contributors.

"We are honoured to partner with Metacritic for the 2011 edition of the Develop 100," said Develop Editor-in-Chief Michael French.

"It's a perfect fit: Metacritic is closely read by games developers and publishers the world over – just like the Develop 100, which has become a heavily-scrutinised tome amongst the games industry.

"This year's list will go beyond mere commercial success rankings to answer the biggest question of all: which studio in the world today is making the best games?"

All will be revealed in June, online here on www.develop-online.net, in print, and via www.develop100.com

The Develop 100 is co-sponsored by gamecity:Hamburg.
