Dear Esther developer and UK firm The Chinese Room could be set to make a reveal its Dear Esther spiritual successor Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture as a PS4 exclusive at Gamescom this evening.

Studio creative director Dan Pinchbeck tweeted:"Tonight is the night you really want to be following @ChineseRoom not this twitter feed. Just a little heads-up to make the switch…"

The studio has been teasing important announcements throughout the last week. The official Chinese Room twitter account stated it is set to reveal "exciting things" today, in line with Gamescom.

The developer is set to take part in the PlayStation roundtable after the Sony conference, where it could discuss an exclusivity agreement.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is expected to be an open-world title powered by CryEngine 3. A recent job listing form the firm, as reported by Kotaku, suggested its next title, also using the same engine, would be released on next-gen consoles.

In the job ad, the firm also stated it had "just signed a development deal with a major publisher and are expanding [their] team for a next-generation console project, scheduled for release in summer 2015".

It should be noted that the developer has removed mention of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture from its website.

Sony is known to be chasing indie developers to bring their games to its platforms as it looks to broaden the kind of content available on the PS4 and Vita.
