Eat Sleep Play 'restructures to refocus on mobile and digital'

God of War co-creator David Jaffe is expected to quit the studio he co-founded in 2007, a new report claims.

Independent studio Eat Sleep Play, based in Utah, is thought to be issuing redundancies as it finishes work on the PS3 project Twisted Metal.

Regional newspaper Salt Lake Tribune claims that eight employees have been let go. About 25 remain, the publication claimed.

It is believed the restructure comes as part of the studio’s wider plan to switch focus to mobile devices and digital platforms.

"[Mobile] is a platform that is in our pockets almost 24/7. It's kind of the size and types of games we're playing," said Eat Sleep Play co-founder Scott Campbell.

"You can certainly reach a lot more people. That's pretty exciting for us. Hopefully it's our brand of mechanics-driven gaming brought to these devices.”

Campbell suggested that Jaffe is leaving to pursue mobile games development too. Jaffe claims the rumours that he will concentrate on mobile games are “highly exaggerated”.
