Free-to-play title set to be released in North America and Western Europe 'in the near future'

Crytek shooter Warface garners 5m users in Russia

More than five million players have signed up to Crytek’s free-to-play shooter Warface in Russia, the studio has revealed.

Developed by Cytek Kiev, the title attracted more than one million users within its first month of release, and that number has continued to rise ever since.

Warface was also recently voted by players as the best online game in Russia’s Runet Awards.

“Reaching the five million registered users mark speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of Warface,” said Mail.Ru group game division VP Vladimir Nikolsky.

“With a combination of first-class visuals and gameplay that is second to none, Warface stands out from the crowd and promises to attract even more attention from players in the future.”

Crytek also teased that the free-to-play shooter would be available in North America and Western Europe in the near future, with the title set to be released through the company’s social network GFace, in partnership with online games publisher Trion Worlds.
