The CryEngine vendor studio aims to promote the game sector

Frankfurt headquartered indies Crytek has joined German industry association G.A.M.E.

In 2007 Crytek managing director Avni Yerli threatened the company would leave Germany if a proposed ban on violent games was put in place.

Today, however, the CryEngine 3 vendor is focusing its efforts on talking up the nation's game industry.

Avni Yerli said the group joined G.A.M.E. to help promote the sector to the wider entertainment industries.

“Over the past years both the importance of the game industry and its social significance increased immensely worldwide,” he said.

G.A.M.E. managing director Stephan Reichart welcomed Crytek.

“We started to talk to Crytek about its membership a year ago and I’m really happy about the confidence shown to us,” he said.

“The great technological know-how and the worldwide reputation of Crytek will contribute to our work excellently.”
