Polish studio aiming for “two-fold” expansion of dev team, with four new teams

CD Projekt revenue grows by eight times in 2015

CD Projekt Red made eight times more revenue last year than in 2014 thanks to The Witcher III’s million-selling success.

The Polish studio generated 96 million PLN ($25m) in 2014. Last year, that total rocketed to 798 million PLN ($205 million).

That was obviously helped by the release of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt on PS4, Xbox One and PC in May.

The game pushed the franchise’s total sales to more than 20 million units – with The Witcher III alone racking up six million in the six weeks following its launch.

In 2011, CD Projekt predicted the Witcher series would have sold 10 million units by 2016.

Of the revenue, 342 million PLN ($88 million) was profit.

CD Projekt also announced that it would expand its 350-strong development team by “two-fold”, introducing four new teams, with two working in new sectors.
