Great Canadian Video Game Competition winner to be announced this weekend

Telefilm Canada will announce the winner of the Great Canadian Video Game Competition this Saturday, GameDaily reports.

The competition, which is held with the collaboration of Ubisoft, Radical Entertainment, EA and the Department of Canadian Heritage, aims to help independent developers compete within the games market at large, awarding a cash prize to the winner in order to help with the commercialisation of the chosen game.

Nominated for the award are Hothead Games’ Swarm!, MindHabits Trainer from MindHabits, Ambush! Trivia from Cerebral Vortex and Big Blue Bubble’s Hobby Shop.

The winner will be announced at the opening ceremony for VIDFEST, the Vancouver International Digital Festival, on September 22nd. The winner for the Players’ Choice award will also be announced on the same day.
