Just a week after the company confirmed it would produce mobile content in house, Microsoft has named the head of its handheld games team.
Former Midway CEO Matt Booty has taken the role of GM of Mobile Games at Microsoft Game Studios.
The news was confirmed in an announcement this morning detailing the raft of content and deep Xbox Live integration Microsoft has planned for Windows Phone 7.
Booty was eventually chairman and president of Midway, right up to managing its sell-off after the firm went bankrupt.
But his background is in games development – he rose up through the ranks of the business from designer to studio head, then VP of worldwide studios before being made CEO in March 2008.
His LinkedIn profile says that he has been working for Microsoft at its Seattle HQ since April.
