Publisher falls foul of country's consumer protection laws over persistent problems in fantasy RPG
Blizzard has been forced to offer its Diablo III customers in South Korea refunds after persistent connection problems continue to plague the title.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the publisher was required by the country’s consumer protection law to offer refunds as it guarantees customers their money back if a product has a problem or fault not caused by the user.
Customers eligible for a refund include players up to level 40, who can apply for their money back between June 25th and July 3rd. The publisher will also accept returns within 14 days of purchase from any player below level 20.
The news comes after South Korea government officials raided Blizzards offices in Seoul last month as part of an investigation into allegations it had refused to refund Diablo III purchases despite the connection problems.
