£10,000 prize honours independent developer's vocational training strategy

Leamington Spa-based Blitz has been named as the West Midlands regional winner of the Edge Awards 2007, a set of prizes aimed to reward individual company's training strategies across the UK.

Edge is an independent foundation dedicated to raising the desirability and status of vocational and practical learning among 14 to 25 year olds of all levels of ability.

Andy Powell, CEO of Edge said: “Edge is delighted to award this prize to Blitz Games. Blitz has shown that it is creating some valuable experiences for young people in the West Midlands and has shown that hands-on learning is good for employers and employees alike. This is a great example of the good work we want to praise and reward.”

Geraldine Randle, head of HR at Blitz Games commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Edge Award for the West Midlands. It’s fantastic to see that Blitz Games’ industry-leading commitment to education and training is being recognised by such a high-profile organisation.  Giving our staff easy access to high-quality training ensures that staff retention and morale remains high.  This in turn has led to improved skills and productivity, which help our business to become even more successful. This virtuous circle means that we can offer a level of job security to staff, in stark comparison to many other video game developers.”
