Leamington Spa, UK developer keeps expanding as recruitment plans mount

Blitz headcount passes 200

Independent developer Blitz Games’ headcount today passed the 200 mark as the firm took on three new staff – and it will be at over 210 staff within two months as the studio’s expansion plans continue.

David Todd and Ross Gowing today joined Blitz’s QA department, while Mike Bithell joined its leading pitch and business development team as a junior designer. Another dozen new starters are lined up to start in the next two months, says the company.

The growth comes off the back of the recent signing of a still-to-be-announced PS3/360 title and continued growth in activity for the firms’ serious games (TruSim), mature titles (Volatile Games), digital download and advergame (Blitz Arcade) and family-friendly, licensed games (Blitz Games) divisions.

Geraldine Randle, HR manager at Blitz Games commented: "Our continued growth is necessary due to the growing demand for our skills. We’ve got a raft of exciting projects under way on current and next generation consoles for some of the best publishers in the industry. 2007 will be another eventful and exciting year for all the divisions at Blitz."

Philip Oliver, CEO of Blitz Games added: "We strive to provide the best possible working environment for our staff offering great conditions, an exciting range of titles to work on and a host of free on-site training opportunities. Our staff turnover is one of the lowest in the industry and we have many people who have been with us for 10 years or more. We realise that our staff are a key asset and take pride in looking after them so to reach this milestone is fantastic."
