Start-up studio Rumble targets mobile, browser and Facebook projects

An investor who helped sell BioWare and Pandemic to Electronic Arts in 2007 has raised $15 million for his new project.

Greg Richardson, the founder and CEO of start-up studio Rumble, has secured an investment round jointly led by Silicon Valley venture firms, Google Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

Richardson previously worked at Elevation Partners, the investment firm that sourced funds for BioWare and Pandemic, before Electronic Arts bought the two studios in a $860 million deal.

Prior to his spell at Elevation he was a general manager at Electronic Arts.

Rumble is to develop free-to-play games for browsers, Facebook and mobiles.

“Every early stage company with big ambitions needs great investors and we feel blessed to have added two world class organisations to the Rumble family,” Richardson said.

“We have a shared belief that the future of games is in creating experiences as engaging and entertaining as the most beloved console franchises, delivered to fit the digital lifestyle of today’s consumers.”
