Australian online world's middleware looks to beef up relations with developers in the territory

BigWorld opens European office

Online games middleware firm BigWorld has established a direct local presence in the European market.

Via the appointment of new business development manager for Europe and Russia, Mike Allenson, the firm will now look to forging closer deals with studios across the territory. BigWorld said the move increased the company’s "local capabilities in foreign markets including the USA, China, Australia, Japan and Europe". Allenson was most recently biz dev director with Moscow-based Nival Interactive.

“BigWorld Technology’s growth as a best-of-class MMO middleware has been astounding," he commented. "I’m both glad and honored to be joining a company that is building the best possible MMO tech coupled with an intense focus on customer support. I’m looking forward to translating and extending our successes in Asia and the U.S. here to the European and Russian markets.”

Allenson has already overseen one publically announced licensing deal for BigWorld’s technology – a deal with Russian virtual world firm Cybertime.
