'Lacking' retail model a boon to browser-based gaming

Bigpoint thriving through economic crisis

Speaking to CasualGaming.biz in the build up to the Develop Conference, Bigpoint CCO Nils-Holger Henning has revealed that the browser-based gaming specialist is thriving in the economic downturn.

Detailing his hopes for the ‘Crossing Over in a World Gone Casual‘ panel, in which Henning is speaking, the exec said: "I will […] talk about the business models, which I think is very interesting as they change, especially in a time like now with the economic crisis, which has had the absolutely opposite effect on Bigpoint.

"In the economic crisis we are growing faster than ever, and the reason is that there’s a lacking business model from the retailing industry."

Bigpoint is a developer and publisher of browser-based games, and hosts one of the most successful portals of casual games in the world. The company has carved a niche for itself creating accessible MMOs, and is striving to span the gap between traditional and casual audiences.

Henning is speaking at the Evolve strand of sessions at the Develop Conference, which focus on the future of the casual gaming sector.
