Emerging companies to be provided with office space, technical resources and access to networking events

BBC Worldwide has launched a mentoring initiative for new digital media start-ups in the UK to help them grow on a global scale.

The BBC Worldwide Labs scheme, which will last for six months, will provide five selected firms office space in the BBC media centre in White City, technical resources, monthly mentoring sessions and access to networking events.

Start-ups will also have on-going access to experts in technology, marketing, sales, advertising and law.

BBC Worldwide will not however invest in the companies or take an equity stake, but will offer the chance to create a commercial partnership with the media giant.

Eligible companies include those focused on gaming, virtual worlds, mobile and web applications.

The scheme will officially open for submissions on June 22nd with a Labs workshop event at Google Campus in Shoreditch, London. The deadline for applications is on July 15th.
