Shift away from UK 'passes savings onto the customer', outsource firm says

Babel Media says it can pass savings onto its customers following the company’s move from the UK to Canada.

In August, the game development outsource group said Britain would no longer be its hub of operations “because there is a brain drain in the UK while Canada is thriving”.

About thirty UK staff are thought to be affected from the relocation. When announcing the move in August, Babel CEO Richard Leinfellner (pictured) said the UK games industry “cannot compete in the modern business without games tax breaks”.

Today the company says its relocation has resulted in a discount price on many of its services.

“Investments in new translation processes and technology, coupled with [tax breaks] has resulted in costs being at an all-time low,” the company said.

“Babel is pleased to be able to pass on these savings as continual price reductions to its clients.”

The company says it has tested over 150 titles across a wide variety of publishers in the past 6 months alone, covering over 30 languages.
