Obsidian developer urges crowdfunders to consider 'interns or juniors'

Avellone reccommends new talents for Kickstarter

With the crowdfunding campaign over, and two veteran studios working on the project, one expects to see a lot of progress on Wasteland 2 in short order.

But what if a studio doesn’t have the manpower needed for a project?

Obsidian Studio’s Chris Avellone thinks those who turn to Kickstarter should consider hiring younger talent.

"Obsidian gets applicants for internships all the time from schools across the States, and it may be that if you’re forming a Kickstarter, you may need a lot of technical, production, and development help for tasks that students and juniors would love to do to contribute to their careers and education," wrote Avellone on his offical blog.

Avellone’s studio recently joined inXile to help on the Wasteland 2 project; an unprecedented reward for reaching the $2.1m dollar mark that reunited many Black Isle Studios veterans for the first time since the studio’s closure.

Avellone thinkss kickstarter should be about more than helping veteran developers though, and offers his services in helping new crowd funded projects find young and promising talent.

"If you’re running a Kickstarter and would like to consider a pool of applicants to help you hit your game’s mark, let us know – there may be interns/juniors in your area or could assist remotely with your tasks and help your game shine," he said.

Avellone was careful to point out that this doesn’t mean his studio will be accepting applications for interns, but advised interested new blood to keep their ears open.
