The R18+ bill currently going through Australian parliament has suffered another setback after it was delayed by a new inquiry into the matter.
As reported by Kotaku, MP Ed Husic revealed on Twitter that the coalition government had referred the bill to an inquiry due to its controversial nature.
“After we finally introduced the R+18 Video Game laws to Parliament today, this afternoon the Coalition referred the Bill to yet another inquiry,” said Husic.
“Referring the R+18 laws to another inquiry is a joke – especially since public consultation was overwhelmingly supportive of the new laws.”
Whilst the new inquiry is yet another set back for adult rated games in Australia, the review is likely to be fast-tracked, with the bill still on track to be turned into legislation by the end of the year.
