Figure Games showing off smartphone and tablet title in London next week

Augmented Reality virtual pet Animin to debut at Toy Fair

Animin, a new virtual pet app based around augmented reality, will be shown off for the first time at next week’s Toy Fair.

The title has been developed by Figure Games, a team that specialises in augmented reality projects. It will be released for both smartphones and tablets.

The object of Animin is to care for and nurture your pet by feeding it, providing it with medicine and cleaning up its excrement. As well as the basic virtual pet software, the app will contain a number of mini-games that unlock as the creature grows.

Figure Games plans to have a number of possible pets available, each of which will evolve into different animals as they gain more XP. There will also be social networking capabilities, using the Animin pet as a user’s avatar.

One of the game’s design consultants is games journalist Steve Boxer, who said: "I’m very excited to become involved in the Animin project. It’s about time someone figured out a way of combining the recent advances in AR with the sort of nurturing gameplay that made the likes of Tamagotchi so compelling."

Animin will be demoed at Toy Fair 2014, which will be held at London’s Olympia next week.
