Five game studios have graced a comprehensive cross-industry list of the UK’s most up-and-coming businesses.
The link? They’re all focused on digital.
National newspaper the Guardian has released its annual
Tech media invest 100 – a catalogue of British firms “picked for their innovation and creativity over the past year”.
The game industry provided five names in the list; Hello Games, Digital Goldfish, nDreams, Mind Candy, and Cybersports.
And yet unlike the blockbuster-producing AAA studios that are spread across the country, these five celebrated studios solely focus on digital product.
Guildford based Hello Games – which won two develop awards this year – broke onto the scene with its PSN stunt title Joe Danger.
nDreams has made good business from PlayStation Home and Facebook, while Digital Goldfish made its name from success on mobile platforms.
London based Mind Candy, meanwhile, is a social multi-player online studio. Located in the same city is Cybersports, a 3D virtual multi-player and multi-sports worlds developer and publisher.
