MMO publisher Reloaded has merged with US free-to-play company K2 Network, it has announced.
As part of the deal, the company will be called Reloaded Games, and will incorporate the GamersFirst publishing portal and APB and Fallen Earth developer Reloaded Productions.
K2 Network CEO Bjorn Book-Larsson, who took the position in February this year, will be the new CEO of Reloaded Games.
Frank Cartwright has also been announced as COO whilst Rahul Sandil will take up the role of CMO at the new company.
The merger was funded by game investment group Arkenstone Investment LLC.
“This merger represents the beginning of a new era for the company,” said Book-Larsson.
“As we evolve our two core businesses; Reloaded Productions will continue developing and producing quality original free-to-play content based on the Unity3D and Unreal3 engines, while Reloaded Games will further expand the amazing platform that powers www.GamersFirst.com.
“Later this Quarter we will make further announcements about the future of the publishing platform targeting independent game developers.”
Arkenstone managing partner Joe Varraveto added: “Our significant investment in the company is a clear indication of our commitment to this team and their long-term success.
“Our philosophy is focused on long-term company building, and we will stand behind the team as they execute a very ambitious long range plan for both platform and content creation, as well as future content acquisition and content conversions from ‘traditional’ game products to free-to-play games.”
