Qualifying Kindle Fire apps to receive promotional boost through 500,000 free mobile ad impressions
Amazon has launched a new developer program for its app store to help programmers optimise their games for the marketplace and its Fire OS.
Called Appstore Developer Select, those who sign up will receive a premium placement on the Amazon Appstore and 500,000 ad impressions through its mobile ad network.
Devs will also receive inclusion in the Amazon Appstore coins rewards category, which means users will receive the virtual currency when purchasing games from studios signed up to Developer Select.
Game and app creators must ensure their titles are optimised for the Fire OS, HD ready, and include Amazon APIs, such as GameCircle, in-app purchasing and mobile ads.
Existing Amazon developers that meet these requirements will automatically be entered into the scheme.
The move comes as Amazon announced a partnership with Gamesalad to give developers free access its suite of tools.
“Mobile app developers have told us that getting their apps discovered across the numerous devices customers are using is one of their biggest challenges,” said Amazon Appstore Games VP Mike George.
“With the Appstore Developer Select program, we’re addressing these discoverability concerns by providing developers with enhanced merchandising opportunities. In addition, we’re helping drive sales by offering Coins rewards on high quality, engaging apps for customers.”
