Finalists in this year’s Independ Games Festival awards will get the chance for their games to appear on Valve’s Steam digital distribution platform.
The IGF Awards have recognized outstanding work from independent developers since 1999, featuring such landmark games as Braid, World of Goo, Super Meat Boy, Fez, and Minecraft.
According to Gamasutra, the deal applies to all of the jury-voted main competition categories: the Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence In Design, Excellence In Art, Excellence In Narrative, Technical Excellence, Excellence in Audio, and the Nuovo Award for innovation.
With Steam now adding linux support, this means the developers will be able to reach an audience across Mac, PC, and Linux.
The finalists will be announced in January 2013, with the awards ceremony to take place at the GDC conference in San Francisco this March.
