Remedy explains that time isnâ??t just money, but also a chance to try different things and perfect formulas

Finnish developer Remedy has responded to ongoing concerns that the studio is taking too long developing its upcoming title Alan Wake, declaring that the team “is not a factory”.

"We take our time and try out different things until we feel have found the right combination and a good balance for the game," lead writer Sam Lake told news site Joystiq.

Alan Wake was first announced back in 2005, with a release date now set – nearly half a decade later – for Spring 2010. The game remains, for now, an Xbox 360 and PC exclusive.

"We have been in the fortunate position where we've had time to do research and do prototypes ... keep the quality bar high and explore, until we find the right combination of different elements," Lake added.

Remedy, the developer behind the first two Max Payne titles, announced in May that Alan Wake will be using motion-capture tech courtesy of Imagination Studios. The game was shown running and polished at E3 last week.
