Protracted lawsuit comes to a close; Details confidential

The legal row between Modern Warfare creators Vince Zampella and Jason West and their former employer and publisher Activision has been settled one day before it was set to go to trial.

The battle began in 2010 when the pair filed suit against Activision three days after the company fired them.

Activision returned fire with a countersuit naming rival publisher EA as a co-defendant, accusing the company of attempting to recruit the two developers while they were still under contract with Activision.

Both parties claimed over a billion dollars in damages.

"All parties have reached a settlement in the dispute, the terms of which are strictly confidential,” said Robert Schwartz, an attorney for West and Zampella.

Though details of the settlement remain secret, the L.A. Times reports that West was seen leaving the court with a broad smile.

It is unclear if this settlement includes the Infinity Ward Employee group, which filed suit against Activision, and seeks over $100 million in damages.

Activision has paid the group $42 million, but it was made clear at the time that this was not a settlement.

Activision and EA settled their differences earlier in the month, and it has been reported that no money changed hands.
