Don Whiteford 'excited' for studio's prospects following funding

Nomad secures North West Fund equity investment

Cheshire-based developer Nomad Games has secured equity investment from the North West Fund for digital and creative.

The studio is currently working on Games Workshop-licensed multiplayer title Talisman Digital Edition, which is set to be released later this year.

Nomad’s first title, Talisman Prologue, was launched earlier this year.

“The team at Nomad are respected across the industry for the quality of their work, and have a proven track record producing award-winning titles and building successful studios,” said Nomad CEO Don Whiteford.

“With our first title already topping the charts, the support of franchise- owners such as Games Workshop, and now the financial backing of the Fund, we are very excited by the prospects for growing another successful studio.”

AXM Venture Capital investment director Joanne Evans added: “We are very pleased to back a team with such a strong reputation, and to see a strong independent studio regenerated within the North West region to fill the gap left behind by multinational game developers.”

The North West Fund for Digital and Creative is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and European Investment Bank.

Formed by Don Whiteford, Carl Jackson, Rob Anderson, Mat Draper and Andy Bate, Nomad Games was set up in 2011 following the closure of THQ Digital Studios, formerly known as Juice Games.
