US subsidiary of Marvelous AQL acquires Atlus Online

XSEED rebrands as Marvelous USA

XSEED, the US subsidiary of Japanese publisher Marvelous AQL, has rebranded as Marvelous USA.

Founded in 2004 by a group of Square Enix vets and acquired by Marvelous in 2008, the new label will incorporate both the XSEED brand of PC, handheld, and console games as well as the Marvelous Online brand of social and Mobile titles.

In addition, the company revealed the acquisition of Atlus Online, the division of Atlus USA behind free-to-play MMORPGs Neo Steam and Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine.

"Marvelous USA unifies our US operations under the global Marvelous brand while giving our customers topnotch products and support for both traditional and online social and mobile games," said president and CEO Shinichi Suzuki.

"Our XSEED Games console and PC brand will continue to offer the quality games and service for which it is known, and Marvelous Online gives us expanded reach into mobile and online social gaming markets."

Former XSEED president and CEO Suzuki will keep his current position at the company under the new brand, and executive vice president Ken Berry is also making the change to the new label.

Marvelous Online will have senior director Tatsuya Nishioka at the helm.
