Japanese game maker's top executive takes control of North American operation

Iwata takes over as Nintendo of America president

Nintendo’s global president Satoru Iwata has taken on the extra role of CEO of Nintendo of America, following an annual sales report on Wii U maker’s business.

Current CEO Tatsumi Kimishima has been promoted to managing director of Nintendo, and will soon be transferred to Nintendo headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.

Iwata’s new position will see him overseeing both the company’s corporate analysis and administration, and general affairs divisions.

As a result, the current general managers of both corporate analysis and administration and general affairs – roles that Kimishima will absorb into his duties – will both step down this summer.

NoA’s current COO and president Reggie Fils-Aime will report to Iwata.

At present, no changes have been announced for Nintendo’s European branch, though given it performance in the region that may change.
