Watch Dogs harnessing brand new engine

Development platform Disrupt powers up next-gen title

Ubisoft's upcoming new IP Watch Dogs is harnessing a new engine specifically made for the title, says technical director Sebastien Viard.

Watch Dogs was unveiled at E3 last year and was featured last week in Sony's PS4 unveiling, confirming the title will appear on the next-generation console.

"Watch Dogs uses a brand new engine called Disrupt, developed specifically for the game at Ubisoft Montreal. It's not Assassin's Creed engine," said Viard over Twitter.

The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal with help from Ubisoft Bucharest, Paris, Quebec and Reflections.

Watch Dogs will also appear on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U.
