PS4 app drives second screen gameplay on iOS and Android

PS4 app drives second screen gameplay on iOS and Android

Consumers able to purchase games through smartphones and download directly to PS4

The PS4 will enable developers to implement second screen gameplay across a range of mobile and tablet devices.

As we already revealed last night, the PS Vita can act as a second screen to play full PS4 games if the main TV screen is in use.

This feature is powered by Gaikai’s cloud gaming tech, which makes the PS4 essentially play the part of a server, while the Vita acts as a client. The firm’s CEO David Perry also said the company’s long term goal was to make all PS4 games playable through the handheld device.

But as well as second screen gameplay on the PS Vita, a new application called PlayStation App will enable iPhone, iPad and Android based smartphones and tablets to become second screens.

An example given was that users would be able to see maps of their games on a second screen.

Users will also be able to purchase games from their smartphones and tablets while away from the living room, and download it directly to the main PS4.

The PlayStation app will also enable users to watch other gamers playing PS4 titles through their smartphones and tablets.

is this an article? and ad? or a joke?

PS4 drives second screen gameplay???? :) if you respect yourself one bit, you should at least rewrite this whole piece. if not remove it.

A. xbox already does it.
B. wiiU already does it but not on mobile and is its core feature!
C. the PS4 didn't even demonstrate any such functionality!

how could it ever possibly be driving something with a product that does not even exist and a feature which is not even the main one, OR a feature they introduced to the market?!? ....

I didn't suggest that no one else had done it, I simply said a PS4 "app" was driving second screen features on the PS4, not that the PS4 was driving second screen gameplay for the whole market, as your post suggests. Which is a key distinction. Article seems fine as is.

And also, they have mentioned second screen functionality since the PS4 reveal.
